It’s Just Like JDate…But For People With Herpes

Thursday January 29, 2009 1:08 PM

When we logged in to our Twitter account this morning, we were surprised to find that somebody who works for STDDatingServices.com had started to follow us. Now, we don’t have any STDs (that we know about), so this was unexpected and slightly disturbing. That said, we knew we had to go check out what goes on at a dating website for people with STDs.

As we checked out the site, we came across this post in their forums that is titled “9 Reasons To <3 Herpes." That’s right, somebody has actually come up with a list of reasons why it’s an advantage to have herpes in life.

Here’s some of the highlights of the post:

2. [It's an] advanced bullet dodging device- on the occasions where this has been a factor in being rejected i always leave the situation with a big sigh of relief that i dodged that bullet. What would the guy that gets upset over herpes ever do if something actually serious came up?

Yeah, a guy who has a problem with you having herpes would probably completely freak out if something serious happened, like “The Bachelor” getting cancelled.

5. [It gives me an] opportunity to give back to my community – (and no not in ‘that’ way).

Nice to see that having herpes hasn’t hurt this woman’s sense of humor.

7. Gets me dates with cute open minded guys – seriously, have any of you looked at most online dating sites? this one has a much higher per capita percentage of well spoken cute guys that dont live with their mom, who also are generally comfortable with themselves and others after having the epiphany after herpes.

This dating site also has a much higher per capita percentage of guys whose genitals look like a modly gummy worm.

8. increased risk of hiv and hepatitis transmission.

Yes, somehow this is listed as an “advantage” of having herpes.
